We arrived in Cape Town just after 10 o'clock in the morning to be greeted by the familiar sight of rain. Our coach took us directly to the Breakwater hotel where we were staying for us to dump our bags before grabbing a quick lunch on the waterfront. At 12.30 we then got on a boat to take us across to Robben Island.
We were given a guided tour of the prison by a former prisoner who had spent eight years in prison as a member of the ANC and was able to explain prison life on great detail.
One of the highlights was seeing the small cell that was Nelson Mandela's for so many years.
At the end of the tour, we had a coach trip around the island before getting on the boat back to the hotel for a couple of hours rest.
In the evening we went to Mama Africa's for dinner. The menu differed from that the boys were familiar with as it included such delights as Springbok, crocodile, kudu and warthog. One intrepid pair chose to have a mixed grill which included all of them.
The restaurant also had a live band which proved very popular. Marcus got to join them on stage as it was his birthday though Will also got to perform based on the strength of his dancing.
What was the Crocodile like? Rolly
