FRIDAY 6 APRIL
Today’s the day!!! On arrival at London’s
Heathrow Airport (Terminal 1) at no later than
1800, check-in
for your South African Airways flight SA 221 departing for Cape Town at 2100.
Please
note that your check-in baggage allowance on South African Airways is
restricted to 1 bag with a maximum weight of 20 kgs per person and your hand
luggage to 8 kgs per person. Should you exceed these baggage allowance limits
you may be liable for excess baggage charges. Please be advised that Bundu
Bashers Travel will not be held responsible for any excess charges incurred.
It is a good idea to
label your baggage both inside (with your name, home and full destination
address and telephone contact numbers) and outside (your name, address,
telephone number and destination city) and to mark your baggage with some
coloured tape – this makes it easier to locate on the carousel. We also
recommend that you pack all valuable items, including ipods, cell phones and
cameras in your hand luggage.
The latest baggage
restrictions can be found on the South African Airways website www.flysaa.com. I would recommend
reading through these restrictions before travelling and in particular take
note of the hand luggage restrictions with regards to the carrying of liquids,
gels and medication.
After check-in, passports, boarding cards and air tickets will be given
back to you.
Proceed through
the security checkpoint and to Passport Control where you need to have ready
your own passport and boarding card. Continue to the Departures Hall. Any
person making duty free purchases will need to have their boarding card on
them.
It is best to get on board as soon as the
flight is called so as to get carry-on bags into the overhead stowage. Dinner
and an early breakfast are served on the flight.
Overnight on board
the flight.
SATURDAY 7 APRIL
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY MARCUS JUDE!!!
Your expected time of arrival at
Cape Town International Airport is 1005. Check that you have all your personal
items including ipods, cameras and mobile phones before you disembark from the
aircraft.
Follow the Arrivals signs to Immigration,
where you will need to present your passport (they will invariably ask a few questions
about the reason for your visit). Proceed to the Baggage Retrieval area
and collect your baggage from the carousel marked SA 221. Each
person should make certain their own luggage is retrieved.
Should your luggage go missing,
please ensure that you follow the procedure outlined in Mr Norton’s and Mr
Sinnott’s travel wallets. The responsibility for the recovery thereof lies with
the Airline and Airport Cargo Handling Agent and as such certain information is
required to facilitate this process.
Proceed through Customs as
a group and to the Arrivals Hall where Mr Andy Ward from Bundu Bashers Travel
will meet you. Once you are all together, Andy will phone the coach driver from
Hylton Ross, who will then move the coach from the holding area to the parking
area outside the airport.
Welcome to
South Africa and Cape Town!!!
South Africa competes with the best of
them when it comes to Mother Nature’s beauty pageant. SA scores top marks for
its diverse offering of beautiful beaches, dramatic mountains and cliff-faces,
lush forest belts, intriguing semi-desertscapes, and unforgettable sunsets over
the African veld. South Africa boasts highlights such as the famed Table
Mountain with its cloudy tablecloth, and the luscious Garden Route stretching
from the Eastern to Western Cape, but any sojourner to her shores will soon
discover that a postcard scene awaits them at every turn.
The province of the Western Cape is situated in the most
southerly corner of Africa. Both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans border its
coastal zone. The diversity of the scenery is quite unique, from the flat
semi-desert plains of the Karoo, to the breathtaking mountain ranges with their
most unusual folding and geological structures, unlike anywhere else in the
world.
Cape Town, more commonly known as “the
Mother City” is made up of graceful historic buildings, a wealth of tradition,
fresh seafood, fine wines and many fascinating shops. Cape Town grew around the
original site of the first European settlement of Southern Africa, which was
started in April 1652, when Jan van Riebeck and his small party landed on the shores
beneath Table Mountain. Their mission was to establish a refreshment station
for the ships of the Dutch East India Company, which were sailing between
Europe and the Spice Islands of the East. A permanent settlement soon sprang up
around the station.
Transfer to the V
& A Waterfront for lunch.
The Victoria
& Alfred Waterfront is a working harbour and shopping/entertainment
development, which has become Cape Town and South Africa’s best-visited tourist
attraction. Sophisticated planning, creative architecture and innovative
restoration have produced a world-class facility.
Following lunch make
your way to the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the Clock Tower for your ferry ride
to Robben Island. Your 3.5 hour tour is booked for 1300. Please note that
check-in time is 30 minutes prior to your time of departure.
Robben Island is most famous, or
infamous, for having been the isolated prison of former South African President
Nelson Mandela and many other black political dissidents. Today former
political prisoners act as your guides. The island is a World Heritage Site and
home to African Penguins and a rich variety of marine bird life, some species
of which are only found on the island.
Following the
tour transfer by coach to the Breakwater Lodge where your accommodation has
been booked for the following 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.
Once a 19th Century prison, the Breakwater Lodge today provides
comfortable accommodation in a spectacular setting that looks over the bay and
up onto Table Mountain. Besides the hotel's accommodation facilities, there are
two restaurants within the hotel complex. Just a few feet away are the
Waterfront's multitude of celebrated eateries and entertainment centres. Not
far away is Cape Town's city centre with its buzzing nightlife and myriad of
tourist attractions.
You will have
the remainder of the day to enjoy at leisure.
Enjoy dinner at
the V&A Waterfront, which is within walking distance of the hotel.
Overnight at the Breakwater Lodge.
SUNDAY 8 APRIL
Following breakfast
at the hotel meet your coach at no later than 0830 for your transfer to
Langa Township where you will play matches against development teams from the
township. Expected time of arrival at Langa is 0930. Eric Dilima will
meet you on your arrival.
Langa is Cape Town’s oldest township, established in 1923. Similar to the
nearby communities of Gugulethu and Khayelitsha, Langa is one of the many areas
that were established prior to the apartheid era designated for Black Africans.
The name Langa means “sun” in the Xhosa language, but the name of the township
is actually derived from the name Langalibalele – a famous chief who was
imprisoned on Robben Island for rebelling against the government.
Get ready for your
first match of the tour. Good luck!!

African Township.
Depart Langa
Township at 1600 and make your way back to the Breakwater Lodge.
Overnight at the
Breakwater Lodge.
MONDAY 9 APRIL
This
morning after breakfast meet your coach at 0830 for your
Peninsula Tour. This fun-filled day will begin with a trip to Hout Bay,
followed by a 45-minute boat ride to Duiker Island. The ferry ride is
approximately 40 minutes long. .
Hout Bay
lies just 20 minutes from the centre of Cape Town, yet has a
unique and timeless beauty that makes it so popular with locals and visitors.
Hout Bay was formerly a fishing village and has managed to maintain its unique
combination of fishing harbour and country atmosphere, despite development. Its
long, sandy beach faces a bay framed by mountains and is quite simply
exceptionally beautiful. Capetonians throng here over weekends to catch a
glimpse of the resident Cape seals that make the harbour their home.
Duiker Island
supports the largest Cape Fur Seal colony in the Western Cape; up to 75 000
seals occur. The market for fur seal products crashed in 1983 and seal
harvesting no longer occurs on Seal Island. As a result, the seal population
has increased dramatically in recent decades. The seals attract Great White
Sharks and an eco-tourism industry to view the sharks is slowly developing.
Seal Island also supports a small population of African Penguins. The penguins
have been provided with artificial nest sites, and this has increased their
breeding success. In spite of the increasing seal population, the number of
penguins has remained stable since the 1980s, and about 80 pairs breed each
year.
Following
the ferry ride, transfer by coach along Chapman’s Peak Drive and enjoy the
breathtaking scenery en route to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and to
Cape Point to see where the two currents meet.
Chapman’s
Peak Drive winds it way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. Situated on the
Atlantic Coast, at the south-western tip of South Africa. It is one of the most
spectacular marine drives anywhere in the world. The 9km route, with its more
than 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman’s Peak, the 593m high
southerly extension of Constantia Berg. The drive offers stunning 180° views
with many areas along the route where you can stop and take in the scenery.
The Cape
of Good Hope Nature Reserve is recognised globally for its
rich, diverse and unique fauna and
flora - with rugged cliffs, steep slopes and sandy flats. It contains a mix of spectacular coastal scenery,
beaches, diverse plant and animal life, shipwrecks and a dramatic mountainous
backdrop. Nowhere else in the world does an area
of such spectacular beauty and such rich bio-diversity exist almost entirely
within a metropolitan area - the thriving and cosmopolitan city of Cape Town.
Cape Point has a long and colourful history, ever since it was
first seen by Western eyes in the late
15th century. Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias is credited with first
rounding the peninsula, which he named the Cape of Storms, in 1487. Cape Point
is said to be the point where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet.
There are two lighthouses on Cape Point, the higher of which can be accessed
via a funicular (affectionately known as the Flying Dutchman) that can
transport up to 600 people an hour. The funicular operates between the lower
station, at 127m (417ft) above sea level, and the upper station at 214m (702ft)
above sea level, allowing you to take in the magnificent view on the trip up.
There is a funicular which can take you to
the top (for
your own account) or you can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the surrounding
views. Once at the top take in the views from the lighthouse before making your
way back to the bottom.
When everyone is back at the coach
transfer to Boulders Beach where you will be able to see the penguins in their
natural habitat.
Boulders Beach is a
rocky stretch of coastline, south of Simon’s Town and home to the unique
endangered South African (Jackass) Penguin. Here small coves with white sandy
beaches and calm shallow water are interspersed between boulders of Cape
granite. There has been a colony of African penguin at Boulders Beach since
1985. There is no record of the birds having lived here prior to that date, so
their decision to settle in an area already well-utilized by humans is
remarkable.
At 1700 transfer
with your coach back to the Breakwater Lodge.
Overnight at the
Breakwater Lodge.
TUESDAY 10 APRIL
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, transfer with your coach at 0900 to Table Mountain (weather permitting), where you will enjoy a spectacular trip up the cable car and from the top of the mountain, take in the views of Cape Town and Table Bay.
Even in clear, warm
weather, we would advise you to take a sweater or windbreaker, as it tends to
be cool at that altitude.
Table Mountain - The revolving cable car is the easy way up to the
top of this remarkable mountain. Your cable car ride gives stunning, vertiginous
views over Cape Town and it’s surroundings. Once on top, viewing decks that
literally “hang” visitors over the edge of the mountain offer wonderful
photographic opportunities. The summit of the mountain is marked by Maclear’s
Beacon at 1067m.
You
will need to depart Table Mountain at 1130 to make your way to Gardenia
Primary School. Expected
time of arrival at Gardenia Primary School is 1300. Kevin Sonn will meet
you on your arrival.
You will have some time for a
practice session before your match beginning at 1400.

Airways and Mango Airlines have a code share on this routing.
Please note that your check-in
baggage allowance on Mango Airlines is restricted to 1 checked bag with a
maximum weight of 20kgs. Hand luggage is restricted to 115cm (L+B+H) and 8kgs

not be held responsible for any excess charges incurred.
It is a good idea to
label your baggage both inside (with your name, home and full destination
address and telephone contact numbers) and outside (your name, address, telephone
number and destination city) and to mark your baggage with some coloured tape –
this makes it easier to locate on the carousel. We also recommend that you pack
all valuable items, including ipods, cell phones and cameras in your hand

recommend reading through these restrictions before travelling and in
particular take note of the hand luggage restrictions with regards to the

Shaka International Airport is 1230. Get some baggage trolleys (they are
free) and collect your luggage from the carousel marked SA 7968.

of the airport restaurants before meeting
back at your coach at 1330 for your transfer to the Protea Hotel
Shakaland.
Kwa-Zulu
Natal is
arguably the most beautiful of South Africa’s nine provinces. It is a
well-watered, fertile region of rolling hills and high mountains. The magnificent
Indian Ocean coastline stretches approximately 600km from the Transkei in the
south to Kosi Bay and the Mozambique border in the north. The N2 highway links
a series of resorts along this beautiful stretch of coast, all of them offering
sun, sea, sand and quiet enjoyment!
The year-round sunshine makes Durban a great destination, where visitors experience miles upon miles of
gorgeous golden beaches, scenic mountains, lush sub-tropical forests, and of
course, some of South Africa’s most beautiful game reserves teeming with the
Big 5. Durban is where the proud Zulu nation meets east and west...a wealth of
influences to entertain and enthral the visitors with traditional warrior
dancers, mystic fire-walkers and colonial heritage. For those who live to shop,
Durban boasts a vast array of shopping experiences, from some of the largest
shopping malls in the Southern Hemisphere to quaint craft markets and street
bazaars - there is something for everyone to take home as a memento!
Expected time of arrival at Shakaland is 1515.
Your accommodation has been booked for 1
night on a dinner, bed and full English breakfast basis including cultural
activities.
Shakaland: A traditional Zulu "Umuzi" or
homestead, divided into the home of the Zulu’s and hotel rooms. A unique resort
built on the set of the movies, Shaka Zulu and John Ross. Feel the pulsating
rhythm of mysterious and magical Africa as you re-live the excitement and
romance of the days of Shaka, King of the Zulus, in this authentic re-creation
of the Great Kraal overlooking the Phobane Lake. Experience the sight of
assegai-wielding warriors, share the fascinating secrets of the Sangomas and
witness traditional customs such as tribal dancing, spear making and the
beer-drinking ceremonies.
This afternoon you will enjoy some cultural
activities commencing at 1600. This evening you will get to experience
traditional Zulu dancing before dinner!
Dinner and overnight at the Protea Hotel
Shakaland.
THURSDAY 12
APRIL
After
breakfast at the hotel, check out of your rooms and load your luggage onto the
coach. You will enjoy part two of the cultural activities from 0900 to 1000. Depart straight after the tour and transfer to St Lucia. Your
expected time of arrival at Advantage Tours and Charters is 1230.
Enjoy a boat cruise on the
St Lucia Estuary! Your cruise has been booked for 1300.
St Lucia’s Wetlands is one of the
world’s great ecotourism destinations, stretches for 80km’s from Sodwana Bay,
in the north of Maputaland, to Mapelane at the south end of Lake St Lucia. The
area is gradually being consolidated as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. The
park protects five interconnected eco-systems – marine (coral reefs, beaches);
shore (barrier between lake and sea); Mkuze reed and sedge swamps; the lake
(the largest estuary in Africa); and Western shores (fossil corals, sand
forest, bushveld, grasslands).
Following your relaxing cruise on the
estuary, depart St Lucia and transfer to Hluhluwe Game Reserve where your
accommodation has been booked at Hilltop Camp for 2 nights on a dinner, bed and
full English breakfast basis.
Hluhluwe Game Reserve was established
on 30 April 1895, and is the oldest game reserve in Africa. Hluhluwe is
Umfolozi’s near neighbour, and is similar in many ways. The two game reserves
are linked by a corridor of land along which the animals move at will. Hluhluwe
is 23 067 hectares in extent, and is stunningly beautiful with grass-covered
slopes and the enchanting Hluhluwe River (which takes its name from the monkey
ropes that festoon the riverine forest).
The award-winning Hilltop Camp, in
the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, on the summit of a forested hill offers fine views
of the surrounding countryside. The camp, the oldest in Kwa-Zulu Natal, was
extensively rebuilt and enlarged in the early nineties, and today accommodation
at Hilltop ranges from a luxury lodge to a variety of superbly appointed
self-catering accommodation facilities. The camp area includes an a la carte
restaurant and bar-lounge as well as a gift shop and convenience store. A
forest trail is available to guests at Hilltop. Hlaza Hide has been developed
at the site of the old summerhouse in Hilltop Camp and it incorporates a
waterhole with soft lighting at night to aid game viewing. Game viewing, bird
watching, the spiritual upliftment of a wilderness trail or just a walk in the
bush, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park offers it all.
Your evening game drive has been booked for 1700.
Please ensure you are at the camp reception by 1650.
We
suggest that you take a warm jacket or sweater on your morning and evening game
drives, as it can get fairly cold on the open land rovers.
The game drive is
approximately 3 hours and will be followed by dinner at 2000.
Overnight at Hilltop camp.

The only
organisation of its kind in the world, the Natal Sharks Board protects beach
users in Kwa-Zulu Natal against shark attacks with an extensive and effective
network of shark nets that extend along 320 kilometers of coastline. The Natal
Sharks Board is not only involved in preventing shark attacks, it also plays a
huge role in research on sharks, and supports and promotes the conservation of
sharks. One of their biggest balance acts is reducing the number of shark
deaths in the nets, without jeopardising the safety of those using the beaches
along the coast.

of your rooms and meet your coach at 1000 for your transfer to Sun City.
Your expected time of arrival is 1200.
You
will be staying at the Sun City Cabanas for the following 2 nights on a bed and
full English breakfast basis.
Sun City,
unique in the context of world resorts, with a combination of features
unmatched anywhere, draws thousands of visitors each year to its four
top-quality hotels, a Vacation Club plus magnificent sporting and recreational
facilities including 2 world class golf courses, and the magical Lost City
water-park, The Valley of Waves. Only 187 km from Johannesburg, the resort,
situated in the bushveld of South Africa's North West province, is surrounded
by the imposing mountains of the Pilanesberg.
The
refreshing, laid back ambience of the Cabanas at Sun City is the
immediate impression one receives upon welcome. The most relaxed and casual of
all the hotels at Sun City, the Cabanas offer informal yet comfortable
accommodation. Sun City Cabanas offer two dining choices – the chefs excel at
creating imaginative theme style buffets at the Palm Terrace and everyday a
full breakfast buffet and dinner buffet is offered. Light and scrumptious
daytime fare is served at the Grande Pool Bar. In fact, when he’s not too busy
exploring what the other pool decks have to offer, guests can spot Figaro, Sun
City’s resident Blue Crane, strutting his stuff by the Grande Pool Bar. A short
stroll across the luscious green lawns of the Cabanas brings you to a World of
Fun in the Sun – Waterworld. There’s jet-skiing, windsurfing, water-skiing and
for those who want a leisurely booze-cruise, there’s a barge to take you around
the lake at Sundowner time.
You will have the remainder of the day
free to enjoy at leisure.
Overnight at the Sun City Cabanas.
THURSDAY
19 APRIL
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and a day of exciting
entertainment and activity. We definitely suggest
a visit to the famous “Valley of Waves.”
The Valley
of Waves is the central feature of the Lost City at
Sun City. It is one of the most advanced water parks in the world,
dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500-square metre (7560-square yards) wave
pool with a palm-fringed beach. Hydraulic mechanisms can generate a 1,8 metre
(6 feet 8 inches) wave every 90 seconds. When waves are not generated, a
bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern. The Bridge of Time is the
route to and from the Valley of Waves, through the magnificent Kong Gates onto
the Monkey Spring Plaza. This bridge erupts every hour in a display of volcanic
activity. The Botanical Garden Trails go around and through the different
forests surrounding the Valley of Waves, a Rain Forest, Baobab Forest, the
Jacaranda and the Tropical Forest. All contain rare plant varieties. The Spider
Web Bridge (sway bridge), Adventure Paths, Hidden Cave Water Falls and other
exciting walkways are in the Garden.
This evening you will enjoy a drumming activity
starting at 1730 at the Cultural Village. Following the drumming session
enjoy dinner from 1900 at the local “shebeen” - Village People
Overnight at the Sun City Cabanas.
FRIDAY 20 APRIL
After breakfast, check out
of the Cabanas and meet your coach at 0800. Transfer to Gold Reef City where you will have
the day free to enjoy the theme park rides as well as an educational tour
starting at 1100
Web: www.goldreefcity.co.za
You will need to depart Gold Reef City at 1500
for your coach transfer to OR Tambo International Airport. Check-in
no later than 1645 for your South African Airways flight, SA 234,
which departs for London Heathrow at 1945. The SAA check-in counters are
located in Terminal B. Please speak to a South African
Airways staff member and they will advise you on the check in procedure.
Please
note that your check-in baggage allowance on South African Airways is restricted
to 1 bag with a maximum weight of 23 kgs per person and your hand luggage to 8
kgs per person. Should you exceed these baggage allowance limits you may be
liable for excess baggage charges. Please be advised that Bundu Bashers Travel
will not be held responsible for any excess charges incurred.
It
is a good idea to label your baggage both inside (with your name, home and full
destination address and telephone contact numbers) and outside (your name,
address, telephone number and destination city) and to mark your baggage with
some coloured tape – this makes it easier to locate on the carousel. We also
recommend that you pack all valuable items, including ipods, cell phones and
cameras in your hand luggage.
The latest baggage restrictions can be found on the South African
Airways website www.flysaa.com. I would recommend reading through these
restrictions before travelling and in particular take note of the hand luggage
restrictions with regards to the carrying of liquids, gels and medication.
Proceed through the security check point and
Immigration. Continue to the Departures Hall. Any
person making duty free purchases will need to have their boarding card on
them.
It is best to board as soon as your flight
is called, so as to get your carry-on luggage into the overhead stowage.
Dinner and an
early breakfast are served on the flight.
Overnight on board
the flight.
SATURDAY
21 APRIL

of arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport (Terminal 1) is 0625. Check that
you have all your personal items including ipods, cameras and mobile phones
before you disembark from the aircraft.
Once you have cleared Passport Control, collect your baggage from the
carousel marked SA 234 and proceed through Customs into the Arrivals
Hall.
